Quinn is 8 months!

Our little girl is 8 months old and expanding her world. Now that she can scoot around, she covers the entire living room area and the dining room. She hasn't gone around the corner into the kitchen yet, but I'm sure that's just a matter of time...

She loves baby cookies so once every few days she gets one as a snack.
She still is a good eater in general. Dinnertime is her favorite when she gets veggies and yoghurt. I'm wondering what her weight and length is as the moment, but we have to wait another month before we go back to the pediatrician.

They make a mess but are so yummie!

Look mom, I'm on top of the table and the remote is right in front of me.....

.... can you believe it that daddy lets me hold on to the remote?!?!

Another treat is watching her favorite dvd with 'Nijntje'. Also this is not something that we do every day of course, but once in a while I turn it on so she can watch it. She loves it and recognizes the songs in it already very well.
Almost falling asleep in front of the tv. Just like daddy.....haha...

What else is going on at 8 months?
* you babble and babble and babble. 'Tatatata's' and 'ohs' and 'ahs'. It's hilarious to listen to you.
* sitting still is very difficult for you.
* lying still seems even more difficult, especially while changing your diaper.
* you love to hold on to my hair and suck your thumb at the same time.
* you're still sleeping good at night, around 11 hours. Although the last 2 nights you have been up at night....what's going on? Are those teeth finally coming through?
* no teeth yet though.
* daytime naps range between 45 minutes and 3 hours.
* we're soooo excited to find out what the next new thing will be.
* your days are full of smiles and giggles. We love you honey!

Moving forward

Two days before her 8 months Birthday she had it figured out. Moving forward is so much fun! Quinn is on the go now. And every time I see her wiggle herself forward, I just have to laugh.
Way to go sweetheart :-)

Music Together

On September 23rd Quinn and I went to our first 'Music Together' class. My friend Marisa informed me about this fun parent-child class. She started going with her daughter when she was about Quinn's age and she absolutely loved it. Now she is taking her son Larz there, who is only 5 weeks older than Quinn. Quinn always starts smiling when you sing to her, so I was sure she would like this class. And she did :-). It was so much fun to see all those kids together, each re-acting to the music in their own special way. And it is also nice for me to get to know other parents and to see my friend Marisa on regular basis!

The little observer Quinn is, you can tell on the following picture that she is just zoned in on Ms Wendy. If you could zoom in far enough (which I don't think you can on here), you could see her great big smile on her face.....

She is not too sure yet what to do with all the instruments, so mostly she just sticks everything in her mouth. But I'm sure she will learn quickly watching all the older kids shaking, bouncing and dancing around...
Because of the start of Music Together, Quinn got a present from Marisa and Larz: a music set with drums, shakers and bells. She absolutely loves it. Now we can make music together at home as well :-). Thank you Marisa and Larz!

Marly comes to visit!

Opa and oma left on September 2nd and only two days later we were back at the airport again to welcome our next visitor: my cousin Marly. Well, not my real cousin, both of our mothers are cousins, which makes us....second cousins I guess.
Anyway, Marly and I both worked at the same company before I moved here (Marly still does), where we spent lots of time working together. Besides a great colleague and relative though, she also was/is a really great friend. So I was very happy she came to visit us and could meet Quinn.
We had a great week together. Marly brought me up to date again about all the ins and outs of Satelliet. And it was so fun to find out that besides the developments regarding the new showroom and office tower, nothing and nobody has really changed! Yes, for those at Satelliet who are reading this blog, we probably also talked about you....haha. So much fun.
Quinn LOVED Marly. Her little face was searching the room to find Marly every time we came downstairs from a nap. And when she did see her, she gave her a great big smile.

It was a relaxing week as well for all of us. We went for walks, read books (Marly finished 2 books while she was here) and we watched the US Open. Poor Ryan had to watch his baseball and football in the sunroom, but since this was probably the first time he didn't get to decide what's on tv since I moved in with him, I didn't feel sorry for him.
With all that tennis action going on, Marly and I decided that a tennis career would be the perfect future for Quinn. I would be her manager, Roger Federer would be her coach (he will be done playing by the time Quinn is old enough, so that would work out perfectly) and Marly......we would fly her in to all the grand slams....first class of course. Match Point! So nice to dream huh!

We took a trip to Lambeau field, both Marly and Quinn had never been there. Quinn was the youngest on the tour (surprisingly) and you could just see that she's going to be a Packers fan. The little observer that she is, she listened like she was really taking it all in. I'm sure she will be watching a game at Lambeau some day.....

After the tour we had lunch at Curly's Pub.

Marly worked with Quinn on waving. And she is getting the hang of it.
Thanks Marly for a great week. See you in December!
