Happy Halloween 2011!

This year for Halloween we had a little bumble bee buzzing around. Quinn was so excited she finally got to wear her costume. When we tried it on a few weeks earlier, she didn't want to take it off anymore!
And Kane was our little puppy. He looked adorable in it, just like his sister last year ;-)...
All dressed up and ready to go to music class.
Buzzing around in music class. Kane the puppy slept throughout the entire class....

We were invited to a Halloween party at our friends The Luebke's. Not only the kids dressed up, but also the parents!
All the kids together in one picture. It took a while to get everyone seated and I think Quinn was the first one to get up again to get away (she does NOT like picture taking....), but we managed to get this shot at least.....
It was a great party with lots of activities. Quinn was a little too small for most of them, but she still had a great time playing with all the toys at the Luebke house.
And Karri got her a little goodie bag to take home with: A Dora book, spooky glasses, what more does a kid need! She loved it. Thanks so much Luebke family!

Quinn is 21 months old

Yeah! 21 months year old! Only a quarter year to go and I'm 2!!!!!
21 months old and she knows exactly what she's doing....or better said, what she's not supposed to be doing. Like getting into things like butt cream.....yes, the jar with good old 'sudocrem'. Where was the time where I could just leave it within reach. She couldn't get the jar open anyway. Well, those days are gone and on an unexpected moment, she attacks......it was quiet for a while.....too quiet. So when I went to see what she was up to, I found her whole face, the table, books and much more covered with sudocrem. She was having a blast with it. Two days later, I still found spots where she smeared it on.......

Kane's Baptism

Kane was baptised by Father Dave in the same church where Quinn was baptised and where Ryan and I got married. With Karin being the godmother, we planned the baptism right during her visit. The godfather is Ryan's cousin Jim Wesolowski.

Aunt Lia comes to visit!

My aunt Lia came to visit us for two weeks! She is my moms sister and they look a lot a like. So when Quinn and I picked her up at the airport, the first thing Quinn said when she walked through the gate was: "oma!". How funny. She kept calling my aunt 'oma' pretty much during her entire stay. It was kind of nice actually, because Quinn wasn't shy around her at all and didn't need to warm up to her. For her, oma was really back with us.
Kane also loved aunt Lia from the start and didn't have to warm up to her either. Within the first hour after she arrived, he was sleeping in her arms already.
We didn't do a whole lot. Just kind of hang out around the house and we went for a walk when the weather was nice. We went to the mall one day too, which we timed out perfectly since that day it rained all day long.
The nice thing about living where we live is that you can just walk on the middle of the road without having to worry about cars and bikes......
.....and nature is all over just a few steps out of the door.
My aunt is a nurse for the elderly, so she is used to some bigger butts to wash. She enjoyed giving Kane his bath a lot and so did he!
Quinn and aunt Lia reading a Bobbi book.
A week after my aunt arrived, my cousin (her daughter) Karin joined us as well with her boyfriend Rob. They first enjoyed a week together in Las Vegas and Los Angeles before coming to us. Rob has two little girls himself so he felt himself right at home with Quinn and her dolls.
My cousin Karin and Kane. Karin is also Kane's godmother and we had his baptism when she was here. Kane was full of smiles for her.
And also for Rob!
After a few days with us, Karin and Rob continued their trip together to Chicago. My aunt stayed with us a couple more days and then met up with Karin and Rob on the airport in Chicago to fly back to Holland.
Thanks for coming and stay with us aunt Lia, Karin and Rob. We had a wonderful time and we miss you guys!

Kane is 2 months old

It's amazing how babies develop in their first months of life. In the 2 months since he was born, Kane has become a happy little boy who is full of smiles for us. He recognizes his mom, dad and big sister and his eyes follow wherever one of us goes.
Unfortunately for me, he is not sleeping through the night yet. Our boy likes to eat every 3 to 4 hours, day and night. So about 2 times at night I get up with him. Luckily I get him back asleep in his bed quite quickly.......
Kane's 2-months wellness stats shows that he is growing very well:
weight: 13 lbs 5 oz (6038 grams)
height: 23.5 inches (59.5 cm)
head cirumference: 40.5 cm
It's hard to believe that at two months old, he weighs almost as much as Quinn did when she was 6 months old. The way he is going, he will catch up with her soon!
There were a few weeks in which he seemed kind of colicky. It wasn't that he was crying for hours in a row, but there were moments when you could just see he was very uncomfortable. We took him a few times to a pediatric chiropractor and that made a world of difference. He became a lot more relaxed and his digestive system seemed to be more on track as well.
Give us lots of smiles buddy. Those brighten our days and make me forget how tired I am from getting up with you during the night.......
We LOVE you little man.
